Gigabyte has not been satisfied with having one of the most outstanding series of gaming notebooks and the spectacular Gigabyte Aero 15 last year has been improved for 2019 with a renewed version inside looking for the highest possible performance on a laptop .

The arguments are definitive: Core i9 processor, Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics , 64 GB of RAM and a 4K screen. So is its price, 5000 euros . And in Xataka we have already tried it.

Gigabyte Aero 15-Y9, technical specifications

Gigabyte has in its Aero15 portable gaming range a combination of the most attractive on paper. With an elegant format and design and without any stridency, its different versions hide scanner technical files inside.

The best example is the higher-end model of the new Aero 15 (RTX 20 Series), which we have tested in Engadget. Next its immaculate technical sheet.

In the complete technical sheet, not only the processor or the chosen graphic card must be highlighted. What you have to check is whether that Core i9 and the RTX 2080 Max-Q are profitable compared to other versions of this team and even the competition.

Gigabyte Aero 15y Review Spanish Specs

The full interior of the Aero 15-Y is materialized in a huge sticker with the technologies and brands that support them
From this model with the maximum configuration you can only choose the version with AUO 4K screen with which you can enjoy 4K game directly on the laptop. If we want the highest quality and the extra refresh at 144 Hz, there is the version with LG IPS panel but with resolution of “only” 1080p and lowering the processor to a Core i7 and graphics to the RTX 2070.

Core i9 + RTX 2080: no more on a laptop

Gigabyte has not hesitated to combine in its latest gaming notebook the most powerful technology currently available for these devices. The combo of the Core i9-8950HK and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics with 8 GB GDDR6 is a clear allegation about the raw power we can expect … and the price they ask us for it.

The Core i9-8950HK has lithography of 14 nm, 6 cores and 12 threads, a base frequency of 2.9 GHz and Turbo of 4.80 GHz, as well as a cache of 12 MB available to very few. Its TDP is 45 W and from the factory it comes with the unlocked multiplier, in case you are one of those who like to push a component of this level to the limit by overclocking .

It supports up to 64 GB of RAM, just the amount that Gigabyte has placed to its most complete configuration. Just the one that also includes a 2 TB SSN NVMe, leaving another M.2 slot to improve if we want that internal capacity of the laptop.

The Gigabyte Aero 15-Y9 uses the “for laptops” version of the RTX 2080. This Turin card has a powerful cover letter, although cut in half in frequency of work and memory bandwidth with respect to its numerical equivalent for desktop.

We have 2944 CUDA cores, base frequency of 735 MHz and Turbo of up to 1095 MHz. Its consumption is marked below 90 W. For the memory, 8 GB GDDR6 at 12 Gbps have been provided.

Cooling system managed by the Microsoft AI

With such internal components, very demanding of energy and heat generators in abundance, the refrigeration could not be limited to a few fans and air outlet slots.

The Gigabyte Aero 15 has in its lower part cooling grooves of large dimensions that are left with enough space for air flow thanks to rubber feet (three front and two rear large surface) that also prevent the equipment from sliding .
