An OLED panel that occupies a large part of the front
The first difference between the Huawei Nova 8 and the Nova 8 Pro is found on the screen. One of them comes with a 90 Hz curved OLED panel, while the Pro model comes with a flat OLED , also with FullHD + resolution but in this case with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It is not usual to find OLED panels at this high refresh rate in the mid-range.
The two models offer a very high screen ratio, up to 91.7% in the Nova 8 Pro, according to data from GSMArena . The Nova 8 comes with 6.57 “while the Pro model rises to 6.72 inches. In this second mobile, instead of having a hole in the central screen, it is chosen to locate it in the upper left corner, where the double front camera.
Inside the two mobiles are practically the same. We found a RAM of 8 GB, with a storage that starts at 128 GB. The processor they mount is also the same, the Kirin 985 , which is below the current Kirin 990 that we see in their 2020 flagships. Even so, it is manufactured in 7 nanometers and a fairly high performance is expected, worthy to compete in the range of around 400 and 500 euros.
For the battery, Huawei opts for fast charging rather than a more generous milliamp-hour. This helps the mobiles to be thinner. In the Nova 8 model we have 3,800 mAh, while the Pro model goes up to 4,000 mAh . Both are compatible with 66W fast charging .
At the software level we have EMUI 11 , which, like the rest of the new Huawei models, comes with AppGallery and without access to Google services. We are facing terminals with 5G SA / NSA connectivity and WiFi 6.
You will recognize it by its camera module
By having a fingerprint reader under the screen, the back is completely clean. Giving all the prominence to the large rear camera module . The design is the same in both versions and is located in the upper left area. By having four cameras, instead of betting on a long line, it is placed in two columns. The main sensor is above and in the lower part a sensor is added for the macro, another for depth, an ultra wide angle and a fourth hole for the LED flash.
The main sensor is 64 megapixels, with an f / 1.9 aperture lens on the Nova 8 and f / 1.9 on the Nova 8 Pro . It is accompanied by an 8 megapixel sensor for the angle, a two megapixel sensor for the macro and a two megapixel sensor for the bokeh effect. On the front we have a 32 megapixel sensor, which in the case of the Pro model is accompanied by another 16 megapixel sensor for the wide angle.
