Why renew a laptop when you can renew a lot? This is what Acer has done, which today introduced the new laptops and convertibles of the Swift, Spin and Aspire families , and has done it with a particularly outstanding feature.
It is about the integration of the new 11th generation Intel Core processors that gain integers in their performance and efficiency, but that still stand out even more for their new Intel Xe GPUs and their supervitamin variant, the Xe Max. At Acer they are not content with that, and in some cases they add even more graphics power with the also renewed NVIDIA GeForce MX450 GPUs.
Graphics power in the Acer Swift 3X
The new Acer Swift 3X is the first outstanding team of this renovation. It is a laptop with a 14-inch IPS panel that covers 72% of the NTSC gamut and offers a Full HD resolution in a diagonal that takes advantage of 84% of that front, which indicates that the frames are really contained.
The inclusion of the 11th generation Intel Core processors is striking here because it is about the variants with the Intel Xe MAX GPUs , a “supervitaminated” version of the graphics chips with that new architecture that we had already seen and with which Intel has given a notable leap from its previous developments in the field of integrated graphics. Although Intel has not confirmed it at the moment, this is the official name of the DG1 that have been in development for a long time .
The Acer Swift 3X also stand out for a weight of 1.37 kg that does not compromise the battery : according to the manufacturer this can reach 17.5 hours. In the equipment we also find Wi-Fi 6 wireless connectivity and USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2).
Acer Spin 3 and Spin 5, the ultralight convertibles (and even antimicrobial)
The renewal of the Acer Spin 5 is above all interior, but it also refines the exterior. This is an ultralight convertible laptop weighing only 1.2 kg and 14.9 mm thick.
The keyboard is slightly raised with two objectives: the first, to offer a more ergonomic typing experience. The second, to have better thermal performance .
The touch screen (in 3: 2 format) and the touchpad are covered by an optional layer of Corning Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass , and it is also possible to optionally coat a surrounding surface with an antomicrobial agent, something that can be interesting although it is not specified your possible response to COVID-19.
Like the previous ones, the outstanding feature inside is the presence of 11th generation Intel Core processors from the Tiger Lake family that in these models have Intel Xe graphics chips (not MAX) .
Acer also highlights its autonomy of up to 15 hours, USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 interface, WiFi 6 through the Killer 1650 chip and two front speakers. Of course, the Acer Active Stylus stands out in these models , which thanks to Wacom AES 2.0 technology allows for an even more promising experience for those who take advantage of this product in the creative field.
The Acer Spin 3 is also renewed , which adopts a different screen format with a 16:10 aspect ratio and WQXGA resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) on an IPS multi-touch panel. Again we have Intel Tiger Lake microphones with Intel Xe graphics and with the same creative options thanks to the presence of the Active Stylus.
That processor is accompanied by WiFi 6 connectivity and USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, but there is also an interesting option: combining two SSD units to increase the storage capacity of this equipment.
The Acer Aspire 5 also gets more serious in the graphic section
We had seen it in its variant with AMD Ryzen 4000 processors, but now we can also find the new Acer Aspire 5 with the 11th generation Intel Core and Iris Xe graphics.
If that seems little to us, no problem, because Acer gives the option to configure it with the new GeForce MX450 , which according to external tests are 33% more powerful than the MX350 and are close to the performance offered by the GeForce 1050 Ti.
Although it is not convertible, this laptop still has a touch screen with Full HD resolution. The configurations can also reach 24 GB of DDR4 memory , up to 1 TB of M.2 PCIe SSD and an additional 2 TB of internal hard disk that of course give a lot of room for maneuver in this section.
This equipment will also be available in three different variants that are particularly distinguished by their screen diagonal . Thus, we will have the Aspire A514-54 (G) (14 inches), the Aspire A515-56 (G) (15 inches) and the Aspire A517-52 (G) of 17 inches.
