Those responsible for the Raspberry Pi Foundation have announced the release of a new version of its popular miniPC. This is the Raspberry Pi 3 Model A + , a version cut in size, specifications and price of the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B + that was launched in March 2018.
The new version inherits much of the improvements that characterized the previous release, and those responsible for this development recognize that it is a way to close the circle with style, because the next Raspberry Pi, when it arrives, will be a much more noticeable change .
Small sacrifices for a new prodigy of technology
The Raspberry Pi 3 Model A + reduces the size and price of its older sister, and there is only compromise in three sections: we have half of RAM, we do not have an RJ45 connector for network connections (but with the WiFi chip) , of course) and there are also sacrifices with USB ports, whose number is reduced from 4 to only 1 connector with USB 2.0 interface.
Otherwise we find a design that is basically identical to that of its predecessors to complete a very striking development for that balance between performance and price . In fact it is an intermediate step between the superior model and the Raspberry Pi Zero W that we were hallucinated since its launch.
Now it remains to be seen what will be the next step of a plaque that as its creators say “will be more than an evolution” in future iterations. In fact they spoke of new CPU ” with a new lithography and new memory technology “.
Everything points to that change will provide the Raspberry Pi with a remarkable efficiency and power compared to the current models, but that will have to wait, although perhaps that product is closer than it seems .
From zero to maker: everything you need to start with Raspberry Pi
For now, yes, we have a little technological prodigy with us, with an almost ridiculous price for everything that can be done with this miniPC.
